Flying Artie remains a clear $2.15 favourite in 2016 Blue Sapphire Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Ken’s Dream ($5) and Derryn ($5.50).

Will Flying Artie justify favouritism and win the 2016 Blue Sapphire Stakes, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Flying Artie ($2.15)

Flying Artie is undoubtedly the class horse of the 2016 Blue Sapphire Stakes field and should just win the Wednesday feature. Debuting to racing for second in the Listed Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) late last year, Flying Artie resumed in autumn for a classy win in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) before running second to stable mate Extreme Choice in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m). Having returned to the paddock after placing third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), the Artie Schiller colt is drawn well with Damien Oliver aboard and his class is sure to count for a lot in the Blue Sapphire Stakes.

2nd

Ken’s Dream ($5)

Ken’s Dream has more than stamped himself as one to watch through a short but impressive racing career so far, and he should be right in the finish of the Blue Sapphire Stakes. Winning an Echuca minor by nine lengths on debut in early August, the Dream Ahead colt made a successful transition to black type company when taking out the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) with ease on August 20th. Running a close second in the Quest Moonee Valley Plate (1200m) on September 30th, Ken’s Dream will be partnered by regular hoop Dean Yendall and will leave from the ideal barrier 5.

3rd

Highland Beat ($26)

Highland Beat is a proven performer at the class and distance, and is arguably over the Blue Sapphire odds at his current $26 quote for success or $5.70 to finish in the first three. Resuming this time for second in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m), the Exceed And Excel colt again placed second in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) before a lacklustre run in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) last time out. Highland Beat will require luck from his draw, but he has the class to be right in the finish of the Blue Sapphire Stakes.
